Big data and machine learning are hot, when you see presentations on CMS conferences the subject matter is usually about hooking up content to external API’s like Amazon Echo or Google Assistent.

This presentation will zoom out to give an overview of what Big Data actually is.
We explore some principles of machine learning and what role and opportunities there are for Drupal as a versatile CMS.

Global warming, we hear about it every day: travel less, eat less meat, insulate our homes, ... we all know that. But we really have to change our way of life. Instead of owning stuff, we should have them as services, much like the internet. But seldom do we hear about the growing impact of the internet on climate change: it consumes a lot of electricity coming from fossil fuels and it is growing rapidly, along with its number of users. Since we're building the internet, our choices can make a difference.

Personalization: Go or No? In the era of consent, privacy and GDPR it may no longer seem acceptable to do behavioral personalization. Personalization doesn’t have to be an Evil Big Brother.

Drupal can be your perfect technical SEO platform, but to get the most out of it, you have to make sure it's set­ up like it should be for the search engines, and there are a number of easy to miss issues that can have a big negative impact on your site’s organic visibility. By default, Drupal isn’t bad at all in supporting SEO, but in this session, we’ll go into detail on how to find and fix problems, and how to prevent them in the future.

Today was a good day; you just got promoted as team-lead of your development team. The details weren't all that clear, but the boss told you: "You'll figure it out on the job."

This lead to a lot of prominent solutions, in the corporate world that can compete with adobe and sitecore, as well as smb swiss army-knife solutions for hobbyists and SME.

Now with decoupled and hipster frontend frameworks we seriously have a popularity problem.

Convergence of different technologies is creating unparalleled opportunities to build experiences for users and things.

Product design and development is hard, getting the product 'right' is harder and doing so in frontier technologies is harder still! but it need not be. Though there is no silver bullet the guarantee product success, there are frameworks and tools available though, that I will be sharing in this talk which when applied de-risk the process and reduce new product failure rates considerably.

You have the knowledge, and you have the skills, but how to teach Drupal to your colleagues or your customer? What subjects to cover and what exercises to give them? Now there is the Open Drupal curriculum, a collection of training materials for learning Drupal. It is fully open source and based on the materials from the Drupal Apprentice program and the Wizzlern training materials.

Agreed, decoupled Drupal is awesome. It gives great opportunities to build multidevice, inviting and flexible frontends which are totally 2019! To be honest, it is great that Drupal finally took the leap. However, in my journey on creating rich internet platforms, websites and applications based on Drupal, I found out that decoupled Drupal is not (always) the holy grail. In fact, it can really turn out into a maintenance nightmare.
