Drupal Dev Days 2022

Covid measures during the event

We want everybody to feel as safe as possible during the event. Belgium is currently under "code yellow for public events", that means:

  • FFP2 advised for medically vulnerable people
  • Masks are obligated on public transport & medical spaces
  • Regular masks are encouraged indoors when distance cannot be kept

The Drupal Developer Days team will have FREE FFP2 & regular masks available at the reception for everybody that requests a mask, without any questions asked. All sessions can be followed over a livestream at the venue so distance can be kept at all times, as you choose how, and with which distance to participate!

The Drupal community is committed to making sure that Drupal is the most accessible framework for building websites that can be used by anyone, including people with disabilities.

Drupal offers a range of built-in tools and third-party modules that help you create accessible websites. But did you know that it also facilitates an accessible content editing experience out of the box that you can build on?

Drupal core initiative leads keynote

Drupal core initiative leads keynote

Drupal’s initiatives work on key improvements for the platform that will make it easier to build and maintain sites as well as create the software itself.  In this keynote, various initiative leads will take turns to highlight new capabilities, challenges they faced on the way and other stories from core development.

Fantastic Functions and where to find them

PHP is a truly amazing language. You probably use PHP to create beautiful websites and services in an expressive way. But the language is capable of so much more than what you'll probably program in your day to day job.

In this entertaining talk, we'll take a look a couple of surprising ways to use PHP. You'll see lesser known functionality being used such as weak maps and process control functions. We'll also cover a couple amazing open source PHP projects that have borrowed inspiration from communities outside of PHP such as Tailwind and Phoenix.

Spatie has an open source first mentality and has released many Laravel, PHP and JavaScript packages. Those packages have been downloaded more than 200 million times.

Giving back

Drupal Developers Days Ghent is the perfect moment to give back code to the community or helping it grow. You can contribute to Drupal core & contrib modules all week or you can become a contribution mentor. Even if you are not a developer, you can help with testing or brainstorming, you don't even have to actually be part of the contribution before. You can also help by joining the Birds of a Feather sessions, create relationships with others and come up with new ideas!

Visit Ghent

Drupal Developers Days is not only about the conference, the sessions and the informal gatherings. After all, you come to Drupal for the code and stay for the community. To facilitate that, we plan to organize social activities that will let you discover some of Ghent's hidden gems.
